Thiago Silva explains how Lampard first approached him when he was about to sign for Chelsea!
Chelsea surprised everyone when they brought in Thiago Silva from PSG during the summer. Not everyone was convinced by a 36-year old Brazilian, but Silva has put in some lovely performances for the Blues.
He has helped Chelsea's defense become a lot stronger and will likely be a decisive part of Chelsea's title charge this season.
Silva has explained for UOL Esporte how Frank Lampard first approached him when he was about to sign for Chelsea.
"When I was about to sign with Chelsea, when I said ok, he sent me a message [through Whatsapp] with a photo of us shaking hands as captains at the Maracana, in the friendly between Brazil and England.
"It was a big surprise for me because I didn’t remember that game. I certainly didn’t hesitate to be coached by him. I’m happy that he enjoyed my work so much, I hope to do it in the best possible way to help Chelsea.
"It is a source of pride to be coached by a player I played against and was one of the greatest midfielders in the world."
A cheeky way for Lampard to make the first connection that certainly worked with Thiago Silva.

An odd but effective signing for Chelsea, who have fixed their defense this season. They have made plenty of big signings when other clubs were cutting costs.
They are only 5th in the league at the moment, but only three points off the top of the league table.
Chelsea certainly has the right ingredients to go for the top, and with Silva, they have the proper man in defense that can lead them all the way.
