Raheem Sterling 93rd minute winner ruled out by VAR against Tottenham during a Champions League match!
Raheem Sterling 93rd minute winner ruled out by VAR as Tottenham knocked out City.
Manchester City and Tottenham played one of the best matches in Champions League history.
It ended with a 4-3 win for City, but an overall 5-5 win for Tottenham (on away goals).
It’s save to say that Tottenham would be knocked out if there weren’t for VAR.
City thought they had a crazy 93rd-minute winner when Sterling put the ball in the net for his hat-trick, but VAR intervened.
This goal happened because of Eriksen’s back-pass being intercepted by one of City’s players. The ball fell to Aguero who than assisted Sterling. The thing was that Aguero was in an offside position when he got the ball from his teammate (although it wasn’t a direct pass).
It was the right call, but it broke City’s hearts. It looked like they got another crucial winner, but referee pointed to an offside.
Quadruple is over for City as they will face Tottenham again at the weekend.
A shocking result for Tottenham, who have a great chance of progressing to the final. They will face Ajax in the semi-final and anything is possible.
