Stats: How good is Ousmane Dembele?

Ousmane Dembele

Ousmane Dembele has recently made the headlines due to the interest in him from all the big clubs. Young Rennes’ striker is supposed to be one of the biggest prospects, but how good is Ousmane Dembele?

Ousmane Dembele is the new kid on the block. Everyone are praising him and predicting great future ahead of him. This is all quite similar to Martin Ødegaard, who was considered as the biggest thing that happened to football, like ever. Odegaard hasn’t shown anything yet, while Dembele has.

Ousmane Dembele is an 18-year old winger, who can play anywhere in attack. He looks like his too young for his age, and is really skinny. He has a funny appearance, and basically has a similar stature to that of young Neymar.

Dembele has been playing in his first professional season for Rennes, the club where he has been playing since 2010, and he has really exploded into the scene!

Dembele is currently the youngest player to have scored 12 goals in all the 5 biggest leagues! This is an important information, but to understand how good Dembele is, you have to compare him to the best young players this season (who are also from the top 5 leagues)!

Besides Ousmane Dembele, the best young players are Kingsley Coman, and Max Meyer. They both play in German Bundesliga, and they are both older than Dembele. Coman plays for Bayern, while Meyer plays Schalke!

DEMBELE VS COMAN VS MEYER!

All the players are roughly the same age, have played equal amount of games (Mayer stands out a bit), and play in a similar attacking positions!

Dembele scored the most goals (12), but also needed more shots to achieve that feet (47). Looking at goals vs shots ratio, Dembele ends up as the best “scorer” of the three!

Dembele shooting wasn’t the most accurate (Meyer was), and he had the same amount of assists than Coman. He also didn’t have the most key passes, which means that Dembele wasn’t that impressive as a team player in matches.

Dembele’s biggest asset (besides the goals) is dribbling. Dembele has incredible 86 successful dribbles this season. This makes Dembele one of the best dribblers this season. Coman isn’t that worse (71), while Meyer is a lot worse dribbler (30).

Dembele has 12 goals in 24 league games this season, and is one of Europe’s most high-potential young talents.https://t.co/W10DDXoZlk

Dembele’s biggest weakness is his possession score which is negative and ranked at -202. Part of the reason for this is that he plays for Rennes, a club who doesn’t have a lot of possession. Still, this signals that Dembele is more of an individual player.

Dembele has an excellent attack score of 819, which is unbelievable for an 18 year old player, and is a lot more than his closest young rivals Coman and Meyer (373 and 431).

Dembele ends up as the winner against Coman, and Meyer with a total score of 681, which means that he is by far the best young player in this season of top 5 biggest leagues in the world.

Dembele looks like an excellent scorer, and fantastic dribbler, but he does lack in his team play. He has enormous potential, but the best option for Dembele would be to stay put at Rennes for the near future, because this may end up as a freak season for Dembele, a season that he won’t be able to repeat again!
