Every football club has a star player. With that I mean that he scores the most goals, plays the best, dribbles the best, etc. We like to think that without that star player, the club wouldn’t even exist. That is why we believe that they should get everything just to be happy. Not long ago, Lionel Messi sounded his dissatisfaction because he didn’t play where he wanted to. This brings the question, should stars be treated differently than the other football players?
Every star player considers himself irreplaceable because he plays that good. But the thing, that makes that star player so good, is not his talents and powers, but his team mates around him. If you would put Cristiano Ronaldo into Stoke team, he probably wouldn’t be scoring 50 goals a season, right.
Every player is expandable, and that is a fact. Whenever a great player leaves, there is always someone at the club who can replace him. The problem is that it can take some time. Nevertheless if that player is not sold, when he thinks he is too important, the whole team can suffer because of it.
Football is a team sport and no individual is greater than the team. So I believe that stars shouldn’t be treated differently than other players? Even if players like Lionel Messi, or Cristiano Ronaldo decide that they are too big for their clubs, they should be moved. When star player leaves, clubs suffer in the short term, but eventually prosper in the long one.
